ABOUT OUR LOCAL IMPACT
-
→ Each year, Ball Brothers Foundation awards upwards of $8 million to organizations in the city, region, and state where the Ball brothers and sisters lived, worked, and raised their families
→ Beyond grantmaking, the foundation brings together community residents, nonprofit leaders, city and state officials, and others to discuss and act on important issues. We also serve as a vocal advocate and cheerleader for our community, helping champion local schools, highlight amenities, and draw positive attention to the region.
-
→ The foundation’s board is comprised of 3rd & and 4th generation Ball family members as well as community leaders.
→ We also have an “Associate Directors” program that gives next generation family members the opportunity to learn more about the foundation’s work and governance.
-
→ Each year, the foundation grants $8-10 million dollars.
→ We typically award over 200 grants to nonprofit organizations, schools, and cities/towns. Over 95% of the grant dollars awarded stay in Muncie and Delaware County with the remaining dollars awarded in the region and state of Indiana.
→ Grants are dedicated to local and regional efforts that: bolster our arts and culture scene, expand educational opportunities, support vital human services, protect the environment, improve health, and create vibrant public spaces.
-
As a place-based grantmaker, our grants are broadly focused on making the community a better place. Here are just a few examples of what our grants are helping to do:
→ Revitalizing Muncie’s downtown
→ Supporting Muncie Community Schools’ transformation as a national model for school turnaround
→ Making Indiana’s White River a recreational destination
→ Putting East Central Indiana on the map for unique arts/culture experiences, including Minnetrista (home of the Ball jar and the Bob Ross Experience)
