BBF Announces Hiring of Executive Assistant & Communications Coordinator
Ball Brothers Foundation is pleased to announce that the position of Executive Assistant & Communications Coordinator has been filled by Michelle Stephenson. Stephenson will bring nearly twenty years of experience in administrative support, financial management, and office coordination to BBF when she begins on June 11.

Excellence in Teaching Award Recognizes Wapahani High School Math Teacher
Ball Brothers Foundation (BBF) is pleased to announce that Kristy Thompson, a math teacher at Liberty Perry’s Wapahani High School has been selected as BBF’s 2018 Excellence in Teaching Award winner. The honor includes a $15,000 grant to support the school district, high school, and teacher’s classroom.

BBF appoints Donna Munchel as program officer
Ball Brothers Foundation has expanded its programming staff and appointed Donna Munchel to the dual position of program officer and grants manager. Effective immediately, Munchel joins colleagues Jenna Wachtmann and senior program officer Rich Spisak in managing all facets of BBF’s grant-making process.

BBF Announces Funding Opportunities for Local School Districts
Ball Brothers Foundation has invited eight school districts in Delaware County to apply for special funding in 2018 to make school-wide and district-wide improvements and innovations. The funding invitation is an expansion of grants made over the past several years to Muncie Community Schools and Burris Laboratory School.

Over twenty nonprofit organizations were awarded Ball Brothers Foundation Rapid Grants totaling nearly $100,000 during the second half of 2017.

Ball Brothers Foundation Funds Purdue Polytechnic Institute in Muncie
A grant totaling $160,000 to Purdue University was among the $3,656,341 in total grants the foundation awarded at its October board meeting. Ball Brothers Foundation approved awards to 17 organizations in its latest round of grants.

John Craddock Presented with Fisher Governance Award during Chamber of Commerce Dinner
Ball Brothers Foundation has selected John Craddock, President of the board of directors of Community Enhancement Projects as the 2017 winner of the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. The award, which recognizes the outstanding service of a board member to a Delaware County nonprofit organization, was presented at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s annual dinner on October 19.

Nominations Sought for Ball Brothers Foundation’s $10,000 Fisher Governance Award
Ball Brothers Foundation is seeking nominations for its annual Fisher Governance Award. The award honors an outstanding board member of a Delaware County nonprofit organization. The winner will be recognized later this fall at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce dinner. Included in the honor is a $10,000 grant to the organization that the recognized board member represents.

Ball Brothers Foundation Grants Expand Opportunities for Children and Families
A summer concert series, children’s bicycle safety program, an art immersion experience, and two outdoors-oriented summer programs all received support through Ball Brothers Foundation Rapid Grants. Over $100,000 has been distributed to local organizations since February through the grantmaking program.

Ball Brothers Foundation Awards $500,000 to Strengthen Medical Education in Muncie
A series of grants totaling $500,000 is helping to reshape how future doctors are trained in Muncie. BBF awarded grants for the effort to four partnering institutions: IU School of Medicine-Muncie, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Foundation, Ball State University, and Meridian Health Services.

City’s Two K-12 Public School Systems to benefit from Ball Brothers Foundation grants
Students attending Muncie Community Schools (MCS) and Burris Laboratory School will benefit this year from several curriculum additions supported by two Ball Brothers Foundation grants. Of the more than $3 million distributed by the foundation in its first grant-making cycle of 2017, the local schools shared $580,000—MCS receiving $305,000 and Burris, $275,000—to introduce and strengthen innovative and digitally rich programming.

Liberty Perry Community Schools teacher selected for 2017 ‘Excellence in Teaching Award’
In conjunction with National Teacher Appreciation Week, Ball Brothers Foundation (BBF) is pleased to announce that Chris Holdren, a 5th grade teacher at Selma Elementary, was selected as BBF’s 2017 Excellence in Teaching Award winner. The honor includes a $15,000 grant to be divided between the winner’s district, school, and classroom.

Ball Brothers Foundation will again honor Delaware County teachers in 2017 through the Foundation’s Excellence in Teaching Award. This will be the fifth year that the award will recognize teachers who bring innovation, enthusiasm, and 21st century skills to their classrooms.

Ball Brothers Foundation Recognizes Delaware County Soil and Water Conservation District with $10,000 Fisher Governance Award
Ball Brothers Foundation has selected Ron Orebaugh, board chairman of Delaware County Soil & Water Conservation District (DCSWCD), as the 2016 winner of the John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance Award. The award was presented at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce’s dinner on October 27.

BBF Supports Red Cross Disaster Relief
Following significant tornado and storm damage in the Kokomo, Indiana area, Ball Brothers Foundation awarded a $25,000 grant to the Indiana Region of the American Red Cross. The emergency grant will support the organization’s work to provide disaster relief.

BBF Awards Rapid Grants to 20 Organizations
A new youth beekeeping project, clean-up of a brownfield site, and a literature in nature project are all receiving funding boosts through Ball Brothers Foundation’s Rapid Grant program. Since February, Ball Brothers Foundation has awarded nearly $80,000 in Rapid Grants to 20 organizations.

Muncie Central, Burris Laboratory School Receive Grants to Support Students, Faculty
High school students and faculty at Muncie Central and Burris Laboratory School will benefit from a grant to each institution. The funding is directed at new classroom equipment, expanded course selections, extracurricular activities, and minor facility upgrades through the support of Ball Brothers Foundation grants awarded during the Foundation’s first grantmaking cycle of 2015.
