Spisak assumes expanded role at BBF

MUNCIE, Ind.—Rich Spisak, program officer at Ball Brothers Foundation (BBF) since 2008, has been named senior program officer at the Muncie-based philanthropy. In this new capacity he will help lead the process that last year resulted in BBF investing more than $6.7 million in area nonprofit organizations.

“Our grantmaking requires expertise and persistence with every project we undertake,” said Jud Fisher, president and chief operating officer of the Foundation. “Rich’s knowledge of the community and his diverse experience have proven to be invaluable as we research requests, review proposals, track results and interact with the public.”

Prior to joining BBF, Spisak was senior development officer at Ball State University where he was part of a team that raised a record-breaking $1.3 million for The Ball State Fund and was instrumental in generating support for Scheumann Stadium and the BSU Indianapolis Center. He holds degrees from the University of Colorado and Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, and served on the football coaching staffs at both institutions. His initial responsibilities with BBF were to oversee grants related to education and the environment.

“Our staff is relatively small,” said Fisher. “Rich is the kind of leader who’s willing to pitch in and do whatever is necessary to advance a project that will benefit the community.”
