Fisher Governance Award
Ball Brothers Foundation
The John W. & Janice B. Fisher Governance Award
The John W. & Janice B. Fisher Governance Award will be given each year to recognize the important role that individual board members play in the governance of nonprofit organizations in Muncie/Delaware County. The award is designed to honor the efforts of one board member whose actions have contributed to the achievement of the mission, financial stability, planning and recognition of the organization they serve. In addition, the outstanding board member must have displayed integrity, responsibility, accountability, and support of results.
The award presented annually to one nonprofit organization (excluding foundations), will provide a grant of $10,000 for operating support and/or board training in honor of the selected board member. To be eligible, organizations that provide direct services to the citizens of Delaware County may nominate an individual who has had a minimum of two years of successful board service for that organization.
The nominee must have engaged in specific activities to demonstrate his or her exemplification of four basic requirements of board service (mission, financial stability, planning, and recognition for the organization). Nominations should clearly identify ways in which the board member has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the organization by significantly contributing toward basic board responsibilities.
The John W. and Janice B. Fisher Governance award is given in recognition of the values that both held as important tenants of nonprofit success. The award will be judged by the Ball Brothers Foundation staff and two family board members.
